When we arrived at the restaurant we were the only ones there. Not a good sign noon time on a Saturday. We decided to stay anyway because I was excited to try Nigerian food. We've have Ethiopian quite a few times and absolutely loved it. We ordered and it took forever to receive our food despite the fact that we were the only people in the restaurant. When we received our plates the food looked amazing, however when we tried to cut our meat it was grisly, tough and extremely fatty so much to the point that we chose to just throw it away. Very disappointed and do not plan to visit this establishment again.

First time here and not knowing what Nigerian food was, we had a fantastic time! The food is very good. A mix of beans, plantains, fish, beef, vegetables, snail. The owners are very nice and educated us on the culture and food of Nigeria.

Let me start out by saying I'm an avid reader of Hanah Raskin (food critic at the Post & Courier) and she had nice things to say about this restaurant. I am always ready to try something new and my job gives me the luxury of trying "off the beaten path" establishments. The couple that runs/owns this place are amazing! I showed up for an early lunch on a Tuesday. No one was at the front of the house and there were no customers. I kind of expected this due to the location (I have frequented other restaurants in this shopping center). As I perused the establishment alone I smiled at the cleanliness and overall inviting feeling of the dining room (mood, setting, music, appropriate artwork, and a lack of over the top "tribal" pretentiousness). I made my way to the back of the house to find a somewhat expansive bar. I knew immediately that the owners were savvy. When your business is located next to a hair extension store, phone card business, and an always fluctuating antique place your draw needs to be versatile. The two proprietors quickly came from the kitchen area to greet me and I immediately felt like I was at home. They quickly got over the fact that I wasn't there to sneak a quick midday beer. The second I s"mentioned I was interested in the Egusi the chef's (the lady, the man had a Boeing shirt on so I assumed he was helping in a lunch break) eyes light up. She spent the next few minutes explaining in depth about the beef parts that were involved (tripe etc.). I'll start with the flavor of the main dish, in a word amazing! The sauce had the coveted stickiness of a dish that has been slow cooked with care. The most impressive parts were the "scary" bits. If the tripe's look wasn't so distinctive I wouldn't have known what it was. The flavor was unique and appealing, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention the yam ball (I think?) that accompanied the meal. Its consistency was that of mashed potatoes, and it complimented the richness of the meal perfectly. I beg anyone who reads this to give this place a try. I will be very sad if this establishment can't make it, and this is my opinion after just one dish! Truly unique! Make it happen Charleston!

This place is awful, we waited over half an hour just to get bottled water that we had to pay for (no iced water option at all). There was no one else there and the food took over an hour long! When it did come out, they got my order wrong and I had to wait even longer! Food sucks anyways, so please do yourself a favor and don't waste your time. No one in my party had a good experience. My friend paid in cash, and they took it upon themselves to keep the change. We didn't even bother to get it because we just wanted to get out of there!!

This restaurant offers authentic Nigerian food in a laid back atmosphere. For people new to African cuisine, they have plenty of options to try that you'll love. For those more experienced with Nigerian foods, the egusi is as good as your family's.

Yum! Food is tasty and the owner is very nice! If you are not familiar with Nigerian food, jollof rice is a staple. I'd come here often if I lived in Charleston.

8pm, Friday, the place is empty. We walk in and check out the menu board only to learn they don't serve those items anymore. We got menus and chose a few things that sounded good. The waitress was so sweet but she kept asking "you are sure you want that?" I explained we were there for the experience of Nigerian fare. She steered us towards rice dishes which my companion got. Even after I definitely ordered she came back out with a sample of what I had ordered. Bottom line, the meat was so tough it was inedible. It was comical to try to eat. The rice tasted exactly like Knorr Spanish Rice. My collards had sand in them and did an number on my tooth enamel. The moin moin was ok - think corned beef tamale. Overall, just not good. I hate to leave bad reviews because I see every restaurant as someone's dream. But there has to be universal standards.
